01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Just past a tidy front garden along the street, the front door opens into a tranquil space accented with seashell decorations and lamps made from beach glass along the walls and bay windows. True to the name Sabo shell, the walls display meticulous mosaics pieced entirely from shells, creating a quiet, contemplative atmosphere reminiscent of a quiet corner in a small art gallery.
The drink menu centres on hot coffee, offering a choice of beans including sub-zero aged (hyo-on jukusei), Toarco Toraja, and Colombian, alongside Blue Mountain and iced coffee. Tea options include Darjeeling, Assam, and iced tea, which pair comfortably with sweets such as chiffon cake or cheesecake, depending on the day. Modest treats—such as a moist homemade chiffon cake with stewed fig inside, or simple cookies served alongside coffee—bring a gentle touch of warmth to a leisurely drink.
The small interior accommodates around 15 guests across counter and table seating, fostering a home-like feel well suited to solo visitors looking to unwind. Sabo shell is open only during the day on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It is an appealing stop for resting after a stroll along nearby green paths and parks, or for spending a quiet weekend afternoon with a book.
